Dr Matt Parvin is a university lecturer and tutor in Creative Writing and English Literature. He is currently a Creative Writing Tutor at the University of Oxford, and an Associate Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Chichester. He has also taught at universities including Cambridge, Greenwich, and St Mary’s.
Dr Parvin did his BA in English Literature & Language at Jesus College Oxford, and his MSt in English & American Studies at Lincoln College Oxford. He did his PhD in English at Magdalene College Cambridge, on the playwright Caryl Churchill.
Dr Parvin has been a Lecturer for two years running at the University of Greenwich, teaching playwriting and screenwriting. He has lectured, run workshops, and been an examiner on undergraduate and MA courses.
At Cambridge, Dr Parvin taught an undergraduate English Literature seminar course on ‘How To Write On Drama & Film’, and tutored English students for their final year dissertations. He was also a Guest Artist at the Faculty of Education, running workshops on playwriting.
At St Mary’s, Dr Parvin was a Visiting Writer, working with Applied Theatre students on a large-scale immersive drama project. He has also received commissions from drama schools including Oxford School of Drama and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Dr Parvin is currently an Associate Lecturer at Chichester, teaching ‘Writing the Novel’. He is also teaching playwriting and screenwriting on the Undergraduate Diploma for Creative Writing at the University of Oxford’s Continuing Education department.
