Matt is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter from Dorset, with a PhD in theatre. He is drawn to dark humour, unpredictable characters, and fun, twisty plots.

In October 2023, Matt’s play GENTLEMEN premiered at the Arcola Theatre to rave 4 and 5 star reviews. The Telegraph listed it in their Best Theatre Of 2023. GENTLEMEN received 3 Off West End Awards nominations, including one for Best New Play.

Matt has a number of screen projects in development. These include an interactive feature film, with Bird Flight Films and the BFI. His TV drama pilot ROOST was shortlisted for the New Script Award at the 2019 Edinburgh International TV Festival New Voice Awards. Matt has both co-run and been a member of writers’ rooms for TV and film projects. He has had a number of treatment and pilot commissions for film and TV. Matt also writes TV comedy with the collective SPINKIE DEN.

Matt’s PhD is on the playwright Caryl Churchill. He has lectured in playwriting and screenwriting at various universities.
